Jagdterriers

OREGON JAGDTERRIERS

Litters

Our puppies are sold through a waitlist in the order of the date of deposit. To be added to the waitlist, an application must be submitted, accepted, and a deposit placed. Puppies are offered in the order that deposits are received from the waitlist.

Puppy selection takes place when the litter is approximately six weeks old, allowing us adequate time to evaluate temperament and development. Puppies may go to their new homes after their first round of vaccinations at seven weeks of age for in-person pickup. For those traveling by air, puppies must be a minimum of eight weeks old prior to flying.

All 2026 puppies are currently reserved. We will begin accepting new applications for future litters in August.

Puppy Information

We use Jagdterriers for blood tracking wounded deer, elk, and bear while hunting all over Oregon. These little dogs have a natural instinct for tracking and high prey drive. Hunting is deep in their breeding and they will take a stand against any animal – regardless of size – to do the job. Jagdterriers have a reputation for being rat hunters, retrievers, and trackers, and generally excel with the right training.

Our Jagterriers are from Serbian and German bloodlines and are registered with the UKC. They have working conformation, personality, and tenacity that is desired in their breed. All dogs bred by us are owned by us and available for viewing so you can see which genes your puppy may inherit. Viewing will not be permitted during times that we have puppies due to health considerations.

Genetic Considerations

Primary Lens Luxation

Jagdterriers can be affected with an eye disease called Primary Lens Luxation (PLL). This is a genetic trait with a DNA test available. Two copies of the gene will have a high probability of developing blindness. Dogs with one copy of the gene are carriers of the trait, but do not suffer from the disease. Dogs with no gene copies are disease free and cannot have puppies with PLL. Our dogs are disease free and should not produce puppies with PLL. Copies of our genetic testing is available on request.

Consider where you will be mainly residing prior to deciding on your dogs coat characteristics. Dogs living in Southern climates or those with lots of burrs tend to have short coats. Puppies going to Northern climates with snow and drastic weather tend to have heavier coats. Even considering all of these factors, your dog may still be cold in severe winter weather and will not fare as well as a Husky or Shepherd-bred dog.

Chocolate Jagdterriers are recognized as an accepted color for the Jagterrier breed. The chocolate color is a recessive gene and is not common anywhere, but is extremely uncommon in the United States. We are proud to have a female possessing this trait and a male who carries the gene, but numbers of chocolate offspring are not likely. All of our dogs are UKC registered.

Buying a Puppy

Black Jagdterrier puppies will sell for $1,500. A deposit of $500 will secure your spot on the waitlist and will be applied to the purchase price of your puppy. Balance is due prior to pick-up.

Purchase includes veterinarian health examination, TSA certificate for travel, and a Permanent UKC Registration form. We run all transactions and interactions through our website on Good Dog.

A deposit secures your place on our waiting list, and puppy selection is offered in the order deposits are received. When your name reaches the top of the waiting list, you will select from the puppies available at that time, based on the preferences indicated in your puppy application.

If a puppy matching your preferred gender is not available, you may choose to remain at the top of the waiting list until a suitable puppy becomes available. All contracts between Oregon Jagdterrier and the client will expire after 24 months or after two puppy offers, whichever occurs first. Deposits will be refunded only if we are unable to offer a puppy within that timeframe.

While we make every effort to honor preferences, we cannot guarantee or control gender or coat type in any litter. Only a small number of puppies will display a beard or final coat characteristics by weaning age, and appearance will continue to develop as the puppy matures. Beards are not guaranteed.
